This week, we welcomed 5 new Beautiful Beasties members to our 52 Project group! I am so excited… the response to this project has been overwhelming (in a good way) and I’m so happy to welcome these five talented ladies into the group.
In the spirit of St. Patty’s Day, our theme this week was “luck”. I found this theme to be rather challenging. It really forced me to think outside the box since this theme isn’t really that obvious and can be interpreted many different ways. Would I choose to go with the good or bad variety? Decisions, decisions. It would’ve been very easy to go with bad luck this week considering my external hard drive pooped out on me on Saturday. I’m still waiting to hear if the data can be recovered. Fingers crossed. But instead of dwelling, I decided to go with good luck this week… I’m really trying to think positively!
My original idea was centered around horse shoes and I had a nice photo of a muddy horse foot from our adventure to the farm last weekend that I was going to use. It was my #1 choice for most of the week. However, this image below featuring the bright shiny penny – heads up, of course – paired with Camden’s paws… that was the one I chose to share. The interpretation of luck in this image is two-fold. Obviously, the heads up penny is supposed to bring good luck to those who find them. Not so obviously, there’s my subject – Camden. This assignment got me to thinking more deeply about luck. My dog, Camden, is seriously the best dog in the world. I know everyone says that about their own dog, but Camden truly is one of a kind. He is the most gentle soul, the most kind-hearted and even-tempered pup I’ve ever met. I am so lucky to have him in my life and in all honesty, I don’t know how any of my future dogs will ever live up to him. He’s just that good. So this week, I reflected on how lucky I am to have such an amazing dog in my life. Appreciating what you do have in life can make those bad luck moments seem relatively insignificant.
Now please go check out Dallas, Texas pet photographer Claire Baxter’s take on “luck” – and be sure to click through everyone else’s blog posts to see how we all interpreted this week’s common theme so differently. Once you click through all the posts, you’ll end up right back here. Be sure to check back next Friday to see what we’ll be tackling next. Happy Friday!
