I’m so honored to be a staff photographer for Lowcountry Dog Magazine. I love getting out there and meeting new people, so this is the perfect opportunity for me to meet people (and dogs) that I otherwise probably wouldn’t ever meet. Last month, I visited the Doc Williams SPCA in Goose Creek. They currently are housing 40+ dogs that were confiscated in what is currently being dubbed as the “Goose Creek Dog Massacre”. Animal Rescue + Relief is partnering with the shelter to help the surviving dogs recuperate and with hopes of eventually finding forever homes for these poor pups.
In all honesty, I almost started balling my eyes out when I first went to visit these dogs. Knowing what they went through and the long road to recovery that they have, it’s almost too overwhelming for me. I know they are in good hands though, and I applaud the community for coming together to fight against animal cruelty + neglect. It’s such a huge issue in our society but it’s comforting to know that there are people out there that do care and are willing to stand up for these voiceless animals.
