Sometime around mid-March last year, I got my invitation to join Pinterest through my friend Meghan and that’s when I first opened my Pinterest account. I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure how to use it at first and I didn’t take much time to try and figure it out. I know… I’m a bit late to the party. So anyway, now that I’ve finally moved to Charleston and have started to think about ways to build my business here, I’ve started to do a lot of reading and research about Pinterest and how it could help my photography business. After just a little bit of reading, I’m already super excited about the possibilities!
I’ve started a few pin boards so far and my hope is to use this as a way to visually represent to my clients who I am and what I’m all about. I hope by using Pinterest to pin things I love and that inspire me, it will help my clients + fans get to know me better as a person. Since that’s one of my goals for 2012, I think this is a fabulous way to integrate my personal life and business life.
One of the big things that I think Pinterest will allow me to do is better understand my client’s expectations before our session. If I am able to see pin boards of what they like and what they want, I will be able to better serve them. I am a very visual person and actually having my clients show me what they like will be a huge advantage to me as an artist.
Another Pinterest-related note: I have now added a “Pin It” button on the bottom of every blog post, so my clients + fans can easily share any of the images featured on my blog on their own Pinterest page. I’m working on getting a Pinterest button for my splash page and hopefully an icon for my blog that will allow my fans to follow me on Pinterest. In the meantime, you can follow me by going to my Pinterest page HERE or just search for “Dana Cubbage Photography”. I hope to see you all on Pinterest!
